After researching urban landscapes and city systems, I was asked to envision
the port city of Rotterdam in the year 2057. Rotterdam’s relationship to water
has always been a mixed one. On one hand, the ocean represents the city’s doorway to the world;
on the other hand, being below sea level has meant an everlasting fight against the impending sea.
This project was a collaboration between 60 graphic design students that culminated
in an interactive exhibition and in the publication of a book that includes
all the thirty-six different visions of the city in the year 2057.
